Unique Master Spa Renovation in Bryn Mawr, PA

Larisa McShane and Associates, an interior design firm in Villanova, PA would like to share with you our new project, a master bathroom renovation.

We began this project, as always, with our unique style survey to discover our clients’ visual and practical preferences. We found that our client Sharon responded to contemporary design elements with bright colors and daring ideas. Functionality was very important.

The existing bathroom layout did not use the space to its potential so we planned a new layout.

We expanded the shower, eliminated the old bathtub and borrowed a little bit of space from master closet for an infrared sauna.

Finding these unique ceramic flower tiles finalized the conceptual design.

We used the flower tiles on the wall as well to give the room a feeling of flow and interest.

Architecturally we changed the configuration of two dormers, which allowed us to add a transom, letting more natural light into the space.

The Flower Tiles became our color inspiration.

We accented the vanity and shower walls with red tile.

We developed a comprehensive lighting plan with a beautiful uplight fixture for general illumination, lit shower and the toilet wall, washed the flower wall, lit the glass shelves in the sauna area and added a pair if the pendants on both sides of the vanity.

We selected impressive plumbing fixtures.

We treated our client with little design surprises: The vanity backsplash shelf is actually custom made from translucent corian and lit from the inside.

The shower has no threshold and IS very accessible, we custom designed exotic solid sapelle wood doors which are absolutely stunning, installed a glass towel warmer, tankless water saving toilet and of course radiant floors.

With the open central area, bathroom feels very spacious, it is more functional and definitely more visually interesting.

We spent a considerable amount of time making everything look seamless. It was a very demanding process to coordinate electric and plumbing with tile, lighting, custom mirror, glass and the fixtures installation. But with the right crew and THEIR amazing, precise craftsmanship, we were able to achieve our goals.

It was a lot of fun working with our client Sharon, who was open to our ideas, willing to take risk and was hands on during the design process and construction.

The bathroom was just one part of a full-home redesign. We plan to show the kitchen of the house in our next presentation! Please, fell free to visit our web site for more information and with any questions about this project.
